The basic glass material for glass processing

FLOAT GLASS

As the most basic type of glass there is, float glass is a starting material used when processing to create laminated, toughened and coated glass. It is available in a variety of sizes and thicknesses and is used in the glass cutting process so it can be cut to the exact size required for the application.

It is the most widely used form of glass in consumer products. High quality float glass requires no additional polishing, and due to its structural flexibility it is easily shaped into a plethora of different forms while heated.

Popular applications include:

  • Mirrors

  • Furniture (e.g. in tables and shelves)

  • Smaller windows in housing

  • Doors

  • Insulated glass

  • Automobile glass (windows, mirrors)
