Hoists for cranes
Hoists for cranes
The hoist is a device aimed at lifting and moving loads.
Indeed, these are installed on jib cranes and bridge cranes to allow the lifting of medium to large weights by simply actioning the controls on the control unit.
TYPES OF HOIST FOR CRANES
Various types of hoist are available for cranes, which are based on the movement needs.
The first classification which can be operated concerns the element of the hoist for lifting the load, that is:
The line hoist is, in most cases, an electric hoist.
Its construction type makes it the preferred machine for installation on a bridge crane, as it allows for much heavier and bulkier loads than the chain version and is therefore suitable for lifting large loads.
These are hoists for more diffused cranes. The greater part of industrial lifting requirements requires chain hoists with a capacity ranging from 125 kg to 2000 kg.
Nevertheless, capacities up to 5000 kg are available in this version.
This vertical lifting unit is made up of a system of gears which, manually or electrically activated, allow for the vertical lifting of a load attached to the hook. The hoist, which only carries out a lifting action, is normally fixed to a trolley on a crane, able to move the load along an arm to satisfy processing and/or storage requirements in the work area.
THE WHOLE RANGE OF CHAIN HOISTS FOR CRANES AND PLANT
Amongst the chain hoists, one can distinguish four categories of product on the basis of the propulsive force used:
ELECTRICAL – most widespread type and required for frequent applications;
MANUAL – second most widespread, largely required for support plant;
PNEUMATIC – type required for particular situations (for example, to satisfy ATEX Standards);
HYDRAULIC – used in rare niche applications.
MANUAL CHAIN HOISTS
The manual chain hoist exploits a gearing system to multiply the force applied by the operator and thereby lift very heavy loads in a secure and rapid manner.
The manual hoist, while still allowing for lifting large loads, permits the carrying out of fairly slow movements and for this reason is only chosen for sporadic lifting activities, such as in the case of the repair of heavy machinery, external or internal maintenance, or when it is not possible to use electricity.
ELECTRIC CHAIN HOISTS
The electric chain hoist combines speedy and powerful lifting without requiring any effort from the operator.
It is the most requested configuration, both on jib cranes, or on suspended units, always guaranteeing an elevated productivity and facility of use.
It is available with standard lifting capacities from 125 to 2000 kg, with single or double lifting speeds, with suspension hook, push trolley or electric trolley.
PNEUMATIC CHAIN HOISTS
The pneumatic hoist is advised for those who do not have, or cannot use, electricity but who must nevertheless lift large loads.
This hoist, working on compresses air, enjoys an intrinsic safety and is a fundamental choice for those in search of a fire-proof joist (as per ATEX Standards) to eliminate the risk of explosions.
ALL THE HOIST ACCESSORIES FOR CRANES
control unit. The control unit is supplied with all electrical hoists. This is directly connected to the hoist and allows for activating climb/descent commands, and possibly transfer commands with an electric trolley. The control unit is always equipped with an emergency stop push button. The control unit cable may be of the self-supporting type, or the coil type with the vacuum lifters.
RADIO CONTROL OR REMOTE CONTROL. The radio control for distance activation of the hoist is available as an option with every electrical hoist; this allows the operator to move freely within the work area without the encumbrance of an electrical cable.
HOIST WITH TROLLEY By sliding hoist, we mean that the hoist is supplied with a trolley. Indeed, each hoist may be supplied with various types of trolley:
TROLLEYS FOR MANUAL HOISTS
PUSH TROLLEY. Manual movement by pulling the chain or pushing the trolley.
MECHANICAL CHAIN TROLLEY. Movement using the maneuvering chain to apply greater control on the transfer of loads.
TROLLEYS FOR ELECTRICAL HOISTS
PUSH TROLLEY. Manual movement by pulling or pushing the LOAD.
MECHANICAL CHAIN TROLLEY. Movement using the maneuvering chain to apply greater control on the transfer of heavy loads.
MOTORIZED TROLLEY. Motorized transfer for greater ease and with regard to heavy loads. With this configuration, it is possible to reach difficult areas and to allow for large-radius horizontal movements, while reducing times.
It is essential wherever accurate and precise positioning of the load is required and when the load is to be moved with only the operators control unit.
CHAIN BAG. Available in plastic, fabric or steel.
INVERTER. Whenever a smooth movement of the load is required, under full control, an inverter can be installed; this allows for smooth starts and stops, both for lifting and transferring.
LOWERED TROLLEY WITH REDUCED PROFILE. This is the ideal solution for exploiting the available height to the full, optimizing the hook travel. By using of a number of pulleys, the position of the hook can be optimized, and this is available in the version with trolley as well as manual.
